This whole interview was insightful & non-biased. 39:08 I like the question & response here. It's about standards 🆚 priorities from which there can be a thin line or unfortunate conflict of interest. But I don't understand #TimBray's response in the beginning of the video about being lonely since leaving #Amazon even though the feedback from the public was predominantly positive & supportive. It seems like a commendable "retirement gift" 2 me as far as that unintended legacy is concerned unless you're not ready to retire yet (or perhaps not used 2 that lifestyle yet) after 40+ LONG years. Furthermore, it seems that your opinions on the future of Amazon has some similarities to Jeff Bezos's. What a tragically misinforming video. Not all Walmart products are sourced from the same supply chain. For instance, Walmart's Elements TV is actually manufactured in a hyper-automated manufacturing center where a relatively few highly paid engineers oversee the production process. In fact, over half of Walmart's annual revenue comes from grocery sections, in which production is hyper-automated. The apparel supply chain portrayed in this video is far more applicable to the likes of Zara, H&M, and Nike. Sure, there are some Walmart products that probably come from these deplorable working conditions, but Walmart did not build them. It is simply using the same supply chain that was built and rebuilt over the last several centuries. Textile industry flowed from The UK in the 1700s to New England states in America in the 1800s, to the Midwest, South, and Western America in the 1900s, to Asia at the turn of the 20th Century, and now toward Africa and Central/South America and South Asia in the 21st Century. During that time, Walmart only existed for about 70 out of the 300 years of the exploitative textile supply chain.
